Vodafone Business Services extends an exclusive real life learning opportunity to medium enterprises

Gujarat, 10/09/2013

September 10, 2013, Ahmedabad: In the wake of building connect with medium enterprises (MEs) and understand their business challenges, Vodafone Business Services (VBS), the enterprise arm of Vodafone, organized a seminar on Chanakya’s Ancient Wisdom Applied To Modern Day Business today, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Hotel Grand Hyatt in Ahmedabad.

On this occasion, Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, Director - Chanakya Institute of Public leadership and the author of the book – Corporate Chanakaya discussed about the Chanakya’s century-old wisdom from the ‘Arthashashtra’ and its implications in today’s business scenario. Chanakya, who lived in 3rd Century BC, was a leadership guru par excellence. Dr. Pillai explained this age old formula of success for leaders of the corporate world by sharing insights on leadership, management and training applicable to the business scenario experienced by medium enterprises today.

To enhance the abilities of a corporate leader, Mr. D. Shivanandan, former Police Commissioner of Mumbai shared his real life experiences of an able performance oriented police officer and recommended different pragmatic approaches to sustain leadership.

In the seminar, Mr. Suphal Mehrotra –Vice President, National Corporate, Vodafone Business Services addressed the leaders of medium enterprises. He discussed about their path breaking initiative, Drive into The Big League (DiTBL) Season 3, and plans of Vodafone Business Services to make inroads into the medium sized business community and providing them with a platform for easier and faster path of growth. DiTBL Season 3 will give one Indian medium enterprise (Rs100-500 Cr Company) once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to put their company logo on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race cars along with multi-billion dollar brands and the brand will be viewed by millions of TV viewers across the globe. This is the last chance for Indian MEs to do so.

Gujarat is one of the key markets for VBS as the State houses a large base of MEs. The growth in SME segment is clearly outpacing the large enterprise growth and this is likely to be continued as SMEs expand in order to compete with larger businesses to outsource some of their work to smaller businesses. According to Department of Science and Technology, the contribution of small and medium enterprises to the India's GDP is expected to increase to 22 percent by 2020, from the present 17 percent.

DiTBL Season 3 is an effort to partner with these medium sized enterprises in their next phase of growth and help them take their brand to newer heights. Vodafone received overwhelming response during the past two years and is taking this initiative forward in an attempt to give more enterprises an opportunity to showcase how they have used technology to enhance growth.
