International Roaming : Dos and Donts

You can travel the world over with your Vodafone Number.

Vodafone knows that your mobile connection is indispensable to you. That's why we want to remind you that international voice & data usage is not covered under your existing tariff plan. Any voice or data usage outside India is considered as an International Roaming Usage.

International data roaming can get expensive quickly.

For example, opening an email with a 5 megapixel picture in it, or downloading a 3-minute video on YouTube, each takes about 2 MB of data. The cost would be almost Rs.1126/-, based on pay-per-use international data rates of Rs.5.50/10KB.

That depends on where you´re traveling. You´ll need to pay a monthly rental of Rs 149, plus roaming rates while abroad. To make things easier, we´ve split our rates into 12 zones across the world. Now it's easy to see how much you'll pay for calling back home to India, making local calls in the country you're visiting, calling other countries, receiving calls, sending text messages and using GPRS while roaming abroad.

  • For details on roaming tariffs across the world, sms ROAM <country> to 56789 (Rs 3/ SMS on the home network. Roaming charges apply on the visited network)
  • Or call 198 (tollfree) or 111 (chargeable at 50p for 3 mins for agent access) or +91 9820098200 . Your call will be charged as per the applicable roaming rates while abroad.
  • Or check out the table with the charges below to see which zone your destination country belongs to (you can click on the zone number, to see a list of the countries belonging to that zone)

Note:

  • All charges mentioned are exclusive of service tax
  • Additional PDP charges may apply with some operators. Note that this charge appears against 0 KB usage in bill.
    PDP is Packet Data Protocol
When you want to use GPRS, your mobile will first attach to a GPRS enabled network in the country you are roaming and then your mobile will automatically activate a “PDP context”. PDP context is essential for the visited network to authenticate you as a valid GPRS user. Some operators may charge for PDP context.
  • All GPRS (Vodafone live! / Vodafone Mobile Connect / Blackberry) usage at 10KB pulse
  • Calls to satellite will be charged at the rates charged by the visited network with an additional surcharge of 15%
  • International roaming deposit mentioned is a standard charge. However, based on the discretion of Vodafone credit services, additional deposits may be payable.
  • Please allow 48 hours for processing your roaming subscription request
  • Prices are subject to change without notice
  • Prices are indicative only and are subject to foreign exchange fluctuation
  • The incoming caller number will be passed on to the customer subject to availability of the same from the other service provider.
