Mobile for Good 2016

The Mobile for Good Awards aim to recognise, promote and support mobile innovations for driving social change in India. The Awards programme is back for its sixth consecutive year in 2016.


The Mobile for Good Awards 2016 will recognise twelve life changing mobile solutions through three Awards categories that are addressing critical areas of health, education, agriculture & environment, government women and inclusive development through unique innovations and usage of mobile & wireless related technologies. Six winning NPOs solutions will receive access to critical funding & mentorship.


The Social App Hub launched this year will drive innovation using mobile technology by providing a platform for mobile applications creating sustainable impact.

Award Categories

The 2016 Awards consist of two Awards categories, namely 'Leading Change Maker – NPO Category' and 'Leading Change Maker – For profit category'. Each category will recognise five best-practice mobile technology related innovations across four defined sub-categories of education, women empowerment & inclusive development, health and agriculture & environment.

Focused on recognising projects / initiatives by

We also have a separate category to recognise a Government-led solution for achievement in driving mobile innovation.

The M4G 2016 Award winners will be selected based on their eligibility and demonstration of success, scalability and sustainability of their initiatives in the following areas of:

M4G 2016 Awards Leading Change Maker - For profit Category

Focused on recognising projects / initiatives by for

  • Profit organisations
  • Individuals

Adding another milestone to the Awards this year, we will also recognise a Government-led solution for achievement in the NPO category.

The M4G 2016 Award winners will be selected based on their eligibility and demonstration of success, scalability and sustainability of their initiatives in the following areas of:


Education

Health

Woment Empowerment and Inclusive development

Agriculture and Environment

The Awards Grant shall be applicable to only the five winning NGOs in the NPO Category.

All M4G Award Winners and finalists will get a chance to display their unique innovations on the Social Apps Hub that was launched this year.


The Projects under this category shall be capable to demonstrating impacts on the community through application of Mobile Platform/ Technology based innovations in Education sector. This category aims to acknowledge the work/concept, which has the potential to contribute to the skills of an individual/ group and to build up nation's human capital. This category aims to encompass all noteworthy work done under the following segments within Education domain:

  • Primary Education to Higher Education
  • Knowledge Dissemination/Awareness
  • Skill Development
  • Vocational Training
  • Capacity Building Programs
  • Any other in line with the above

The Projects under this category shall be capable to demonstrating impacts on the community through application of Mobile Platform/ Technology based best practices in Health Care sector. Pervasiveness of mobile technology fuels creation of innovative new ways to deliver health information and services. Therefore, this category aims to acknowledge the projects which possess the potential to build innovative mobile platforms to enable the interoperability of all health-related information and databases. This category aims to encompass all noteworthy work done under the following segments within healthcare domain:

  • Health & Sanitation
  • Maternity & Child Care
  • Old Age
  • Women Health
  • Hospital
  • Other Well-being projects
  • Any other in line with the above

The objective for including this category is to further promote the idea of a developed society by uprooting discrimination related to gender and by imbibing idea of inclusion to lead positive impact on growth and development by providing equal opportunities to all. This segment shall cover project that shall be capable of showcasing responsible use of mobile technology and encouraging leveraging of mobile platforms for the benefit of society as enlisted below:

  • Promoting Gender Equality
  • Women Empowerment
  • Rural Development
  • Tribal Area Development
  • Creating opportunities for differently abled
  • Any other in line with the above

The Projects under this category shall be capable to improving the performance of key agriculture and environmental indicator(s) as well as facilitate innovations in these segments. One of the critical challenges of our era is to balance the competing lifestyle demands viz a viz conserving the scare natural resources. The projects under this category are expected to imbibe the challenge of using mobile technology to help individual, government & industries realize greener objectives:

  • Water Conservation

  • Measuring / Reducing Waste
  • Biodiversity
  • Energy Conservation
  • Wetland Conservation

The Projects executed by government agencies/ departments/ministries under this category shall be capable to demonstrating impacts on the community through application of Mobile Platform/ Technology based best practices. Project under this category cut across all the themes defined under Schedule VII. This segment shall cover project that shall be capable of showcasing responsible use of mobile technology and encouraging leveraging of mobile platforms for the benefit of society as enlisted below across the different themes:

  • Disaster Management
  • Education
  • Health
  • Women Empowerment and Inclusive Development
  • Agriculture and Environment
  • Sustenance of community development programmes (in health, education, etc.)
  • Sanitation programmes
  • Livelihood enhancement
  • Public distribution system
  • Eradicating poverty, hunger and malnutrition
