Helping people manage their diabetes

Diabetacare

Encouraging more efficient diabetes management by keeping patients informed and monitored, with Diabetacare devices backed by Vodafone IoT.

  • Business Need

Traditional diabetes treatments require patients to stick to a rolling regime of medication and monitoring. This demands strict discipline from patients and regular visits with doctors, costing time and money.

Diabetacare, a UK-Indian start-up providing remote monitoring solutions to diabetes sufferers, was testing a new blood-sugar level device across 800 patients in Bangalore. This required real-time connectivity in order to allow data to be uploaded to a central server and be securely accessed by multiple parties.

  • The Solution

The Diabetacare solution, using Vodafone IoT, monitors glucose and blood pressure levels, automatically sending this data to specialist clinicians (including doctors and nutritionists). The treatment is personalised and adjusted accordingly, with periodic face-to-face visits at the nearest clinic.

  • Business benefits
    • Enabled Diabetacare to launch the world’s first remote diabetes treatment and prevention solution, creating first-mover advantage
    • Provided a real-time view of customer data usage, billing and SIM control from a single global platform
    • Single Global SIM allows the business to plan for international ramp up from local pilot of 800 to 100,000 subscribers within three years
